CEPAR

Population ageing will create major economic and social challenges for many countries including Australia. Enhancing the wellbeing of an ageing society, and minimising the stresses of adjustment, requires government, business, and households to respond to dramatically changing fiscal, labour force, family, health, and financial circumstances.

CEPAR's ARC Centre of Excellence research program from 2011-2017 focused on providing an intellectual and evidence based resource to inform policy in both the private and public sectors, bringing together researchers, government and industry to optimise and synthesise expertise, knowledge and data sources, and drawing on international networks to provide Australia with the most innovative and current solutions to the challenges of population ageing.

Researchers drawn from the disciplines of actuarial studies, demography, economics, epidemiology, psychology and sociology collaborated to explore six key areas of research focus:
