ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR) Senior Research Fellow Rafal Chomik has produced a new Fact Sheet – The Constellations of Demography – offering a visual representation of what are the most staggering global demographic shifts in modern history.
The world’s population has grown rapidly from about 2.5 billion in 1950 to 7.5 billion now and is expected to rise to 9.7 billion by 2050. But this is accompanied by a demographic transition that is taking place at different rates in different places.
