A new dataset developed by CEPAR researchers Dr Tom Wilson, Dr Irina Grossman and Associate Professor Jeromey Temple shows how population ageing is expected to play out at a local scale across Australia over the years 2020-2035. The dataset contains population projections by sex and age group for SA3 areas of Australia for a 15 year projection horizon.
The dataset is available to download in the CEPAR Population Ageing Futures Data Archive, which comprises sets of data projections and estimates related to the composition and diversity of Australia’s older population.
Further detailed population projections are available for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population and Australia’s migrant populations, sexual minority populations, as well as estimates of the ‘oldest-old’ population and projections of how the COVID-19 pandemic affects population ageing in Australia.
