On 25 May 2022, Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) has released its fifth From Plan to Impact report which was launched during a side event to the 75th World Health Assembly. CEPAR Deputy Director Scientia Professor Kaarin Anstey is a co-author of the report’s chapter on Dementia Risk Reduction.
The ADI report monitors the stages of creation and implementation of national dementia plans in both World Health Organisation member states and some non-member states, and provides expert analyses and case studies from around the world related to the seven action areas identified by the Global action plan on dementia.
Professor Anstey’s and her colleagues’ report chapter points out that in the absence of a disease-modifying drug for dementia that is available globally, risk reduction strategies present the most tangible way for individuals to decrease their own personal risk of dementia and for governments to provide clear public health guidance, raise awareness, and promote healthy ageing within their dementia plans.
