Kaarin Anstey recognised with Senior Mental Health and Prevention Research Award

CEPAR Deputy Director Scientia Professor Kaarin Anstey has been awarded the Senior Researcher Award in Mental Health and Prevention Research by the Journal of Mental Health & Prevention, in recognition of her distinguished service and outstanding contributions to this field of research.

Scientia Professor Kaarin Anstey’s research programs focus on the causes, consequences and prevention of cognitive ageing, dementia, and common mental disorders in adulthood. A second focus is on older drivers’ risk assessment and safety.

Kaarin Anstey is an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow and CEPAR Deputy Director at UNSW Sydney where she is Scientia Professor of Psychology. She is Director of the UNSW Ageing Futures Institute and Senior Principal Research Scientist at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA). Her work in the field of prevention has included identification of risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia, leading the Body Brain Life interventions, development of a risk assessment tool for Alzheimer’s disease and contributions to guidelines. Anstey is also the Chair of the International Research Network on Dementia Prevention, a Director of the Board of the Dementia Australia Research Foundation, and member of the Governance Committee of the Global Council on Brain Health.
