More than 150 participants from around the world came together to hear from pension experts and researchers about current and future pension challenges and opportunities at the 7th International Pension Research Association (IPRA) Conference which took place on 23 and 24 June 2022 in Paris/France at the OECD Headquarters and online.

The annual conference is co-hosted by CEPAR and IPRA in collaboration with the OECD, the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS), Netspar, and the Pension Research Council at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, bringing together researchers, policymakers and industry practitioners from around the globe to discuss and debate the most pressing pension and retirement issues.

This year, the two-day program featured presentations on the re-evaluation of pension systems; gaps in pension coverage; and pension risks; presented by renowned international pension experts and researchers Robert Palacios (The World Bank); Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak (Warsaw School of Economics, Poland); John Piggott (CEPAR, UNSW Sydney, Australia); Jonathan Reuter (Boston College, USA); Marie Brière (Amundi Institute, Paris-Dauphine University, France); Will Sandbrook (Nest Insight, UK); Andrew Cairns (Herriot Watt University, UK); Anne Balter (Tilburg University, the Netherlands); and Anita Margrethe Halvorssen (Global Legal Solutions, LLC, USA).

The keynote speech, on The Multifaceted Effects of the Pandemic and Lockdown Measures on EU Citizens: Impact on Pensions, was presented by world renowned Professor Axel Börsch-Supan, Director of the Munich Centre for the Economics of Aging (MEA), Max-Planck-Institute for Social Law and Social Policy, Germany.

IPRA is a new international organisation established with the aim of improving the quality and impact of research on pensions and related ageing issues to optimise social and economic outcomes for an ageing world.

Individual researchers and organisations including policy groups from across the world, interested in pensions and related ageing issues, are welcome to join IPRA.
