CEPAR

Population ageing will create major economic and social challenges for many countries including Australia. Enhancing the wellbeing of an ageing society, and minimising the stresses of adjustment, requires government, business, and households to respond to dramatically changing fiscal, labour force, family, health, and financial circumstances.

The 2011-17 research program focuses on providing an intellectual and evidence based resource to inform policy in both the private and public sectors. It brings together researchers, government and industry to optimise and synthesise expertise, knowledge and data sources, and draws on international networks to provide Australia with the most innovative and current solutions to the challenges of population ageing.

Researchers drawn from the disciplines of actuarial studies, demography, economics, epidemiology, psychology and sociology collaborate to explore six key areas of research focus:
